Responsive Type

Responsive Type is a project/application created by Hudson-Powell. The Responsive Type application and a series of poster have been exhibited in Sapporo, Tokyo and Yokohama, Japan.

How is typography interpreted in digital environments? Font design and render techniques are still, for the most part, print based. 'Responsive Type' sets out to develop a type system that is better suited and more native to screen based display technologies.

The system renders letter forms in realtime enabling forms to adapt and respond to the context they exist within.

The current program only runs one Style that allows the font to respond to scale, at small point sizes simplifying its form to give greater legibility, then responding to the display nature of fonts at large point sizes by increasing in complexity.
